 Proposal for programs and project for the IYA 2009:

• Croatian IYA 2009 webpage (www.astronomija2009.org) – information about IYA 2009 activities and projects, publications about IYA and astronomy, information about team members and participants, calendar with major events in 2009, contacts and mailing lists.

• Public lectures - organization of approximately 50 public lectures regarding astronomy and astrophysics all over Croatia, designed especially for students and school teachers.

• Astronomy observations - organization of the night sky and Sun observations for the public, particularly during the major astronomical phenomena in 2009.
o Sun and night sky observations in public observatories (e.g. Astronomical Observatory Zagreb).
o Public observations (street astronomy) of the night sky and the Sun during special social events with promotion of the IYA 2009 and dark sky initiative. During some events part of the city lights would be turned off.
o Observations of the Sun in local schools with the help of teachers.
o Star parties in regions of Croatia with dark sky conducted with the local amateur astronomers.

• Student IYA 2009 projects - a student project fund which would support the best student projects related to astronomy or astrophysics in 2009.

• Astrophotography exhibition

• Dark sky initiative – construction of flyers, various brochures and publications with a goal to raise public awareness about the light pollution problem.

• IYA 2009 in media - Publishing a series of popular scientific papers in related popular magazines and contributions in the media (TV, radio, newspapers) about IYA 2009, main IYA 2009 events and astronomical phenomena in 2009.

• IYA 2009 press and public materials - preparation of special “tribute” editions related to IYA 2009 (posters, flyers, books, planisphere).

• IYA local meetings - organization of meetings for the teachers and representatives of the amateur astronomical societies during IYA 2009.
